Its been a while I wrote something.. finally coming to realize what work+load is.
I switched to DIY hosting at Gandi. So will take some effort in maintaining it.. than just point & click.

Thanks to having a hoodman lcd cover, I realized a little late I was shooting with no CF card!! But this still is not as bad as when I shot a roll on Vivitar 3800N without advancing the film (since I never put it in sprocket properly in first place), and missing a whole set of photos, of a memorable trek in Bhutan! My A70 did save me that time.

Gnunify’09 is on, be there if you can not to miss some learning & fun.

PLUG bookmarks are worth taking :-)

echo “updates”

No posts for a long while, lot of pending matters and fixing things.. one of it being moving hosting to another server so this blog will be offline for a while!
Few things to ponder on are like what next steps in IndLinux, and life in general!

Will be at foss.in next week from 26th-29th Nov (yes will be as delegate for a change ;-) . That keeps the record intact of having only participated as attendee/delegate for FOSS events this year!

more later..when blog is online again.

dialup not good for lenny

corollary from prev post… debian testing/unstable dont go well with dialup! time to get BB.

Comments

no dialup in lenny!

to my utter surprise found that Debian lenny DVD-1 didnt have wvdial on it! :x
one explaination by kart_ was that most debian folks use something better than dialup.. so wvdial probably went out of the priority!

foss’ilized

I missed Freed.in this time (variety of reasons), but anyways had not planned to speak there.. didnt speak at gnunify 08 too.. & the mood seems to be that I might not speak at any FOSS event this year, until perhaps i figure out something other than Indic L10n to speak about!

Randomly happened to be at FossConf in Chennai, which was quite good for a first time event, esp. the stalls by students demostrating their foss projects, some of which looked quite good.. only hope they put it up somewhere. Might try to make it for FOSS NITC in April.. I would be again in Kerala then after an year!….
Photos of Gnunify’08 & FossConf still to come.., time to figure out a better workflow for managing photos!!

DDPT – hugin : tool to create panoramas

hugin – a Panorama Tools GUI to make panoramas from multiple pictures

dist: testing, unstable

arch: all

Panorama is a wide angle shot created by stitching multiple photos, requirement being there be some overlap between the photos.

hugin is gui frontend for panorama tools , to make panoramas from multiple pictures. Stitching is accomplished by using several overlapping photos taken from the same location, and using control points to align and transform the photos so that they can be blended together to form a larger image. Hugin allows for the easy creation of control points between two images, optimization of the image transforms, and much more. The gui provides for lot of options & controls, read the docs once before using.

Install: apt-get install hugin

meta package hugin installs hugin 0.6.1 and its dependencies ( hugin-bin, hugin-tools, libpano ). Latest version is 0.7 beta 1
A rough sample stitching of 5 shots. read hugin documentation and tutorials to use it best
